Walk In Mammography Dot Phrase
 

Several of the area UPMC imaging locations have walk in hours for mammograms which might be a helpful services for our patients. So that you have access to them and can put them on patient paperwork, I've created a dot phrase ".TCMAMMO" that will pull in this information to add to a patient's after visit summary. You should all have access to this now (please let me know if not). The information is below for your easy reference outside of EPIC as well.


Magee Imaging Center (Monroeville)

What do you need to bring: ID and insurance card

How do I prepare: Avoid wearing any deodorant, perfume powders or lotions as they may interfere with results. Wear loose-fitting clothing so that you can undress and dress easily

Melinda's pre-clinic conference this week addressed knee pain, a super common problem in the outpatient setting for kids but especially adults such as Mr. John Nee and Ms. Patty Ella. Love those names! The lesson covered acute (non/traumatic) and chronic knee pain. There are a lot of great physical exam videos available here . Among the many things I learned this week were: Use the Ottawa Knee Rules to decide when to get x-rays for pediatric and adult patients (at least 2 years old) with traumatic knee pain. The OKR reduce unnecessary x-rays by 20-30%. Pro-Tip: walking with a limp still counts as "bearing weight." By comparison, use the Pittsburgh Knee Rules to decide when to get x-rays for patients at least 12 years old with knee pain due to blunt trauma. Keeping Good Company with Mike O. Plasma

One of the things I realized the Clinic Supe could do for learning and for program camaraderie is to recap the week's pre-clinic conference. This helps the people who miss PCC because they are on nights, vacation, or adult floors, and it (hopefully) stimulates delayed recall for those who were in clinic that week. In addition, I am printing out 16 copies of the handout each week, hole-punching them, and alphabetizing them in everyone's white binders in the workroom. If you have previous sheets at home, bring them in, and I will add them to your binder. Last week, John and Rosa cleaned off the whiteboard in the work room at Turtle Creek. There are laminated signs with the information that was written on the board, which I've labeled below. A. Turtle Creek Clinic address, phone number, and fax. You can also access this info in EPIC via .TCADDY. B. Pool names to get Triage (John, Dorcas, Erica, and Keda) or the Front (Kim and Rosa). Also the phone number for Quest and account numbers for Medicine and Pediatrics. C. Billing codes for gyne exams and allergy testing. D. Peds well visit reminders as well as the UPMC Health Plan Number. E. How to Add Printers. F. Smoking Cessation Script Template. G. Flu shot is: Flulaval. H. CRNP/PA/MD student names.
